Brian: Brian Venable of Lucero
Ohio Rocks: and next to you we have

Ohio Rocks: so tonight is the first night you played this flying V so where was it made
Travis Perkins: right here in Akron Ohio
OR: By you
Travis Perkins: yes by Travis Perkins and custom guitar works shop
OR: do you have a web site

OR: Tell me about this guitar and how its custom made, you’re from Memphis where some of the first indie bands got their start
Brian: where were we when we talked about this
Travis Perkins: we were at Little Brothers
OR: Where
Brain: Little Brothers, Columbus Ohio
OR: Ohio Rocks knows Little Brothers
Travis Perkins; I saw you a my second time at Little Brothers, and I was amazed and I said I was going to build you a guitar then I saw you a year later at the Flow
Brian: at the skate park
Travis Perkins: this skate park in Columbus
Brain: and he had pictures of this guitar he was building for me
Travis Perkins: and you where like “Oh this is cool” I’m like I’m building a guitar and its going to be yours and all you said was “Oh…”
Brain: All you said was look at this guitar I’m building
OR: so who picked this out
Brian: we had a discussion and
Travis Perkins: I Think Gary told me you wanted a flying V
OR: we will put pictures on the website but the pick guard is custom tooled leather which this Ohio craftsman put together today before the show…and this is the first time this guitar has been used
Brain: in Ohio even
OR: where the rock’n’roll hall of fame state…Ohio is the kind of state where you can play multiple times and do really well it seems you played here in the last 6 months what’s it like in Cleveland for you
Brain: its pretty crazy everybody throws themselves around there all drunk and hollering along
Travis Perkins: we drink a lot in Ohio
Brain: Its defiantly a very cooperative crowd
OR: What would be your favored song after this year long tour
Brain: man…I don’t know “Tears don’t matter much” because everybody’s up and throwing stuff, but I haven’t got to play “Noon as Dark as Midnight” or any of the big rock guitar ones
OR: can you explain exactly what guitar this is
Travis Perkins: this is a custom built Perkins Flying V
OR: and your amp…VOX
Brain: I have a 25 anniversary AC30
OR: what kind of pedals do you have going through all this
Brain: I’ve got a Tube Screamer, a nuance Habanera drive pedal, and Seymour Duncan just a tuner, and a signal booster so nothing too much
OR: so tell me about your neighborhood in Memphis
Brain: we live in midtown, we have Alex Chilton big star, then the North Mississippi All Stars which is Jim Digginson’s sons Luther and Cody jims on a couple of our records and we have played with Alex Chilton
OR: so with that neighborhood how many bands did you play in before this
Brain: this is my first and, I didn’t play guitar before this and we’ve been doing this for ten years
OR: your experiences playing in Ohio how would you sum it up…and tell the fans
Brain: I think everyone in Ohio just loves us and they have such a good time everybody comes in here gets drunk knocks each other around sings aloud and has a blast
